How to Prepare a Site for a Burford Septic Tank and Treatment Plant.
If you are using an Innoflow AdvanTex septic tank system; for specific information on transportation and site preparation.
It is preferable to site a Septic Tank system where vehicles cannot drive over them as the roof is suitable for soil cover only.
Endure that you follow the recommended best practice for site preparation:
- Dig a hole to the dimesions depending on the size of your tank -
- 3600lt septic tank - 1700mm wide x 3100mm long x 1340mm deep (from bottom of tank to bottom of inlet)
- 4500lt septic tank - 1700mm wide x 3100mm long x 1750mm deep (from bottom of tank to bottom of inlet)
- Two-in-One Septic Tank:
- Hole needs to be 4.2m long * 2.4m wide
- From the bottom of the tank to the bottom of the inlet is 1.320m.
- Use a spirit level and a straight edge to check that the site is level in all directions.
- Cover the site with 100mm of loose material that can be shifted with a rake, (e.g. sand, concrete gravel, topsoil, etc) for the tank to bed onto.
- When placing a concrete septic tank underground, please note that if the tank is empty it could float.
- To prevent this from happening -
- Tie reinforcing through the lifting loops in the top of the tank and drape the ends of the reinforcing into the concrete;
- AND, place 2-3 cubic metres of concrete around the outside of the tank.
- OR, keep at least 3/4 of water capacity in the septic tank.
- The back fill that goes around and on the tank must not have any rocks or large stones in it.
When backfilling around tank do not DUMP fill on top of water tank.
Instead place fill at side of tank and push the fill out over the top of the tank.
DO NOT TRACKROLL THE FILL OVER THE TOP OF THE TANK; ALLOW IT TO SETTLE NATURALLY.
