How to Prepare a Site for a Burford Concrete Tank that sits ON or IN the ground.

Site preparation above ground
  1. Level off site with digger, shovel etc making sure that there is no rocks / boulders within 100mm of the top of the soft fill.
    • 6666gl/30000lt tank site to be 5.0M square, overall height 2.870M
    • 5500gl/24750lt tank site to be 4.5M square, overall height 2.870M
    • 5000gl/22500lt tank site to be 4.5M square, overall height 2.565M
    • 3000gl/13500lt tank site to be 3.5M square, overall height 2.410M
  2. Use a spirit level and a straight edge to check that the site is level in all directions.
  3. Cover the site with 100mm of loose material that can be shifted with a rake. I.e.: sand, concrete gravel, topsoil etc.
  4. When placing water tank in the ground there must be 1 metre of the tank clear out of the ground. This is to prevent people driving over the top of the tank and falling into it!
